Description
The final design of the vessel came about though a long term fascination with the great cauldrons of the Celtic and Germanic tribes, their use of riveted pieces to form the whole. There was also a link to the more modern history of the Cornish Mining heritage and their use and development of steam engines. The huge riveted boilers and palpable feel of the work that went into the making of them creates a very powerful link for me, whenever I see the remains of that industrial heritage.
I am also attracted to the idea of humble rivets being used for thousands of years to produce works of art, works of ritual importance, and purely practical works. Such a simple concept helped, to create the modern world we enjoy today.
